Define Watches – Looking Smart with Heart

With the Queensland floodwaters now subsided, and the clean-up well underway, I have been incredibly impressed by the big-hearted and generous spirit of many businesses, the compassion they have shown to their customers and their spirit of generosity.  Previously in this blog I have written about how corporate compassion can give businesses a great PR boost, while imparting that warm fuzzy personal glow that comes from helping others.  With this in mind today I would like to give a shout-out to good friends, Define Watches.

Publicity Queen was engaged to launch Define Watches onto the Australian market back in 2008 and we were delighted to generate some stellar media coverage for them.  Since then Define Watches have gone from strength to strength, and are now recognised as one of Australia’s premier specialty watch importers.

From this position of strength, Define Watches has decided to give back to the city that has supported them, in getting behind the Queensland Premier’s Disaster Relief Appeal, and we at Publicity Queen are pleased to be able to support their corporate generosity.

Define Watches held an online auction of their stylish and unique timepieces via their website at  www.definewatches.com.au that concluded on Sunday 27th February. The total retail value of the watches available for sale at the auction was in excess of $25,000 and all proceeds will be directly donated to the Premier’s Disaster Relief Appeal.

My sincere congratulations to Peter and Lydia of  Define Watches, and I encourage all of our friends, clients and partners to support this worthy cause.

National Growth Summit 2011 – Is Your Business Connected?

On February 14th, when many people will be sending Valentine’s Day cards and booking romantic dinners, I will be winging my way down to Sydney to indulge another of my passions (sorry hubby!), namely business learning and networking at the Business Connect National Growth Summit for 2011.

Publicity Queen is the PR Partner for Business Connect, and I just can’t wait to get together with like-minded growth businesses, to get the very latest business thinking, and learn how to apply it to my own business.

Regular readers of our Queentessentials e-news (click here if you would like to subscribe – like all of the best things in life, it is FREE!) will recall that in our February edition, we featured Liz Wiseman, the author of the renowned business must-read Multipliers; and Tom Peters, the author of The Little Big Things – 163 Ways to Pursue Excellence. I’m very excited because both of these business gurus will be speaking at the National Growth Summit and sharing their priceless expertise.

I find the annual Growth Summit to be ‘mission-critical’ for Publicity Queen because it’s an amazing opportunity (to hang-out with other entrepreneurs) and learn the latest buzz about strategic leadership and how that can be practically implemented in your company to drive growth – SUPERBLY VALUABLE!  OK, here’s some anecdotal evidence – after first attending my first Growth Summit way back in 2008, I applied a few of the techniques that I learned at the summit and through those improvements, I was able to grow Publicity Queen by 65% that year!  Happy Days!

The other serious consideration for me though is that PR is only truly successful when it’s linked into an organisation’s business strategy – so for us here at PQ, we like to be fully conversant with the strategies and business thinking that are proving to drive the best results around the world.

So, I will be there with my PR bells on (you’ll be able to spot me at 50 paces as I’ll have red on! – sadly no tiara!) and I encourage you to register for this business-changing event – and of course to come and introduce yourself so that we can have a chat over a coffee (or wine!) .
